RECETA AQUI. This Mexican Horchata Drink, is a famous one in the Mexican Food.

At many Mexican restaurants you might notice large glass jugs or jars holding gallons of this Mexican Horchata Drink.

Or maybe you had her of rice horchata, is the same.

this easy very easy horchata drink recipe has a great balance of creamy, rice and cinnamon flavor with a touch of vanilla that takes this drink to heaven.

Something that you may be tempted to do is to replace the cinnamon sticks for ground cinnamonDON’T DO THAT.

And let me explain the reason why I don’t recommend to do that.

REASONS WHY NOT TO:

  • the flavor won’t be the same
  • you will need a lot of ground cinnamon to kind of get a similar flavor
  • ground cinnamon doesn’t blend in well with the drink
  • the ground cinnamon floats to the surface, creating a layer of cinnamon. not tasty believe me.

MEXICAN HORCHATA DRINK

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 2 sticks cinnamon sticks
  • 1 can evaporated milk

Instructions

  1. in a container add 4 cups of boiling water and ad the cup of rice and let it rest for 5 min, and let it get a little cold.

    then in a small pan, add 2 cups of water and the sticks of cinnamon and let it boil for 5 minutes. remove from the stove.

    blend the water with the rice and the water with the cinnamon sticks together with the sugar and blend it for 5 minutes or so.

    then pass what you have blend, to a strainer so you can separate the residues from the rice and the cinnamon sticks. you don't want that on your drink.

    once you did that. add the vanilla and evaporated milk and mix it very well.

    put it inside your fridge for a couple of hrs so it can get chill.

    ENJOY.

I LOVE your site and your YouTube channel! I’m hoping to make this Wednesday and I’m wondering if the cinnamon sticks should be taken out of the water and thrown away before blending? Or do the cinnamon sticks get blended with the rice and everything? Also can I use a food processor or regular blender, or do I need to have a ninja or blend tech type of super-blender? Thank you for sharing these recipes and yourself with us!
