MEXICAN WHITE RICE

Mexican white rice is a traditional side dish that in Mexico we eat it like a every day meal. It goes with everything.

Once you’ve got the technique down, it’s also really easy to get right

I’m going to share with you my go-to method for cooking white rice that’s fluffy, tender, and delicious every time to make it.

RULES

  • rinse your rice
  • rule 1:2. 1 cup of rice 2 of water.
  • bring water to a boil
  • get a steady simmer
  • put the lid on
  • leave it alone
  • enjoy

There are 2 ways of doing the Mexican white rice the traditional one and the “healthy” one The traditional one is using chicken bouillon only to season it. I add around a tablespoon or so to a 1.5 cup of rice, That is how much I make for my family of 6, and usually we always have a little bit of leftovers.

And the second way is that instead of using chicken bouillon we add diced onion with the butter and 1 minced garlic add the rice and we add salt 1 bay leave and cook it.

I have to say that both are pretty good.

Give both ways a try and see which one you like the most.

WHITE RICE

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups white rice
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tbsp chicken bouillon
  • OTHER WAY OF DOING IT
  • 1/4 onion diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1.5 cups white rice
  • 3 cups water
  • 1-1.5 tsp salt
  • .5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 bay leave

Instructions

  1. In a small pan add a table spoon or so of butter and add the rice mix it up and let it cook for like 2 minutes or so. then add the water and the chicken bouillon mix it , let it boil it once it starts boiling turn low your heat to the lowest and cover the pan with the lid and let it cook for around maybe 10-13 minutes, once you that the water its almost gone turn it off and let it rest for like 5 minutes or so.

    the other way of doing white rice with out chicken bouillon is

    add the butter and the diced onion and the minced garlic, cook it for like 2-3 minutes, then add the rice and water salt and black pepper and bay leave, once it starts to boil turn your heat low and cover with the lid and let it cook it for 10 to 13 minutes, once you see that the water is almost gone turn it off and let it rest for around 5 min, enjoy.
